Visiting Research

Tohoku University ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต Juneโ€“July 2025

Visiting researcher in the Space Robotics Lab (Sendai, Japan ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต) under Prof. Kazuya Yoshida. Built autonomous lunar navigation and interaction for a rover: Dijkstra-based path planning, camera-based object detection for perception, and custom hardware integration for gripper control and onboard planning.

  • I was selected as the top-1 student from Sapienza University of Rome for partecipating to the exchange.
  • Led MoonBot Navigation project.
  • Project won the TESP 2025 Competition
  • Won a Research Certificate of Excellence

MoonBot Navigation

An autonomous navigation and object-interaction stack for a lunar rover prototype.

  • Planner: Dijkstra-based waypoint navigation with dynamic obstacle handling.
  • Perception: Visual object detection and tracking to trigger tasks and avoid hazards.
  • Hardware: Custom gripper actuation and onboard execution for reliable field operation.
